You will explore principles of educational psychology as well as child and adolescent development while engaging in field experiences each semester in meaningful and diverse contexts (suburban, urban, and rural locations). Topics range from learning about the needs of exceptional learners as well as how to effectively engage in peer counseling. In addition, a semester of student teaching will prepare you for the transition to a fruitful career as a classroom teacher.

Hands-on experiences including but not limited to service learning, simulation, field based, and student teaching opportunities provide the practical application opportunities to develop as an educational professional, which is supplemented by content area expertise and methods coursework.

You will have the opportunity to work with exceptional learners, English-language-learners and other diverse populations as part of this teacher program. This prepares you for the bevy of roles and responsibilities you will be tasked with upon assuming a fruitful career as a classroom teacher.

You will be eligible to participate in the ZFSOE Mentor program. You will be paired with successful teachers/upperclassmen to provide for a more successful onboarding experience and successful teacher development process overall.
