Here’s what you can expect during your first year in the TeachFlorence1 program: 

• Begin in July with a 10-day training to prepare for your classroom. Topics include classroom management, instructional strategies, lesson planning and more.
• Attend a 5-day training in August to continue developing your skills.
• Meet with your assigned coach for two hours each week throughout the school year.
• Participate in monthly cohort meetings and quarterly seminars.
• Take an educational psychology course in the spring through Clemson University to prepare for the Principles of Learning and Teaching Exam.

Here’s what you can expect during your second year in the TeachFlorence1 program: 

• Take an online assessment course through Clemson University over the summer.
• Attend a three-day training in August for additional support in key areas.
• Take an online literacy course in the fall based on your certification area.
• If you’re pursuing special education certification, you’ll take a special education assessment course in the spring.
• Participate in monthly cohort meetings and quarterly seminars throughout the year.

Here’s what you can expect during your third year in the TeachFlorence1 program: 

• Attend a three-day training in August focused on key areas of need.
• Complete a year-long professional growth plan, choosing an area you want to improve and collecting data throughout the year to show your progress.
• Work closely with your coach on your growth plan during the school year.
• Participate in quarterly seminars with your cohort.
• Apply for your professional certification at the end of the year.

You will work with students daily as the teacher of record in your classroom for all three years. 

TeachFlorence1 is dedicated to meeting your needs and the needs of your students. The program will support you through individualized coaching and monthly meetings. Topics covered include:

• Mental health for both students and teachers
• Leadership development
• Working with diverse student populations, including multilingual learners
• Classroom and behavior management
• Using current technology, including AI tools

You’ll work each week with your assigned coach, who will provide one-on-one, meaningful feedback in all areas of your teaching. You’ll also be part of a cohort that meets monthly to give you additional support and help you grow. 

With TeachFlorence1, you’ll have a coach right in your school who is available whenever you need support. You’ll serve as the teacher of record in Florence 1 Schools and earn a full teacher salary while completing the program.
